Felicitation of Guest Speaker By Dr. Amjad Shaikh, Vice Principal
On 28th January 2025, the
Department of B.Voc Software Development, in collaboration with the Internal
Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a workshop to commemorate Data Privacy
Day. The event was conducted for all four streams of B.Voc—Software Development
(SD), Medical Lab Technology (MLT), Banking, Finance, and Insurance (BFSI), and
Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality Management (TTHM)—under the able guidance of
Principal Dr. Iqbal N. Shaikh and Vice-Principal Dr. Amjad Shaikh.

The workshop aimed to raise
awareness about the importance of data privacy in today’s digital era. It was
led by Ms. Nikhat Hurzuk, Assistant Professor in the B.Voc.SD Department, and
coordinated by Dr. Imran Baig Mirza, Coordinator of B.Voc Software Development.
The event began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Mr. Shakeel Akther,
Assistant Professor in the B.Voc BFSI stream, setting a reflective tone for the
proceedings. Following this, Dr. Imran Baig Mirza delivered the welcome
address, emphasizing the growing significance of data privacy and its relevance
across industries.
The keynote session was delivered
by the esteemed guest speaker, Mr. Fahim Mohammed, Director of Engineering, AI
& Analytics at NICE Actimize R&D, Pune. He was introduced by Ms.
Mehwish Khan, a TY B.Voc Software Development student, who highlighted his
extensive expertise in AI/ML, Big Data, and Cloud Computing, as well as his
vast experience in industries like Finance, Insurance, and Retail. During his
insightful presentation, Mr. Fahim Mohammed delved into various aspects of data
privacy, including types of data privacy measures across industries such as
Software Development, Medical Lab Technology, Banking Finance and Insurance,
and Travel and Tourism Management.
Key topics covered in the session included:
HIPAA Regulations and fines for non-compliance
Case studies such as MD Anderson Cancer Center and
Cottage Health
The Personal Data Protection Act 2023 in India
Organizational measures like conducting regular data
audits and obtaining informed consent

Individual steps such as using
strong, unique passwords, enabling multi-factor authentication (MFA), keeping
devices and software updated, and being cautious about free services.
Mr. Fahim Mohammed also discussed
applications of data privacy in different sectors and provided practical advice
to the audience. The session was highly interactive, with students and faculty
actively engaging in discussions. During the Q&A session, students raised
various doubts, including how an individual can protect their data on social
media platforms. Mr. Fahim Mohammed provided actionable tips, such as reviewing
privacy settings, avoiding oversharing personal information, and being cautious
about third-party applications.

Following the guest lecture,
Vice-Principal Dr. Amjad Shaikh addressed the audience, stressing the
importance of vigilance in the digital world and highlighting the pivotal role
students can play in promoting data privacy. He then felicitated Mr. Fahim
Mohammed for his invaluable contribution to the workshop.

The event concluded with a
heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Farheenshama Shaikh, Assistant
Professor in the Department of B.Voc MLT. She expressed gratitude to the Y
& M Anjuman Khairul Islam Trust, Principal Dr. Iqbal N. Shaikh, Vice-Principal
Dr. Amjad Shaikh, and Nodal Officer of B.Voc, Mr. Farooque Shaikh, for their
unwavering support. Special thanks were extended to Mr. Fahim Mohammed for his
enriching session, Dr. Imran Baig Mirza for his coordination, and Mr. Muddassir
Shaikh for technical support. She also thanked Ms. Nikhat Hurzuk for her
seamless work in organizing and managing the program. Faculty members and
students were also commended for their active participation, making the
workshop a resounding success.
This workshop served as a vital
platform for enhancing awareness about data privacy and underscored the
importance of protecting personal and organizational data in the digital age.
