Date & Time – 4th To 7th October, 2023 at 12:00 Noon To 3:00 p.m.
The Department of B. Voc. Software
Development, under the leadership of Principal Professor Dr. Aftab Anwar
Shaikh and Vice Principal Dr. Iqbal N Shaikh, hosted a seminar
titled "AWS Training Program" from October 4 to 7, 2023.
This event showcased expert trainer who provided valuable insights on AWS cloud
computing. The seminar was completed in 4 days for second & third-year
students enrolled in B. Voc. Software Development.
`Mr. Aniket Lavate, Technical Head at Lavatech Technology in Pune, was our esteemed trainer for the program. The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Prof. Farooque. Nodal Officer Prof. Y. Shaikh set a spiritual tone for the event.
Dr. Imran Baig Mirza, coordinator - B. Voc. SD Software Development, introduced the session's theme, emphasizing the importance of cloud computing in the industry. The session coordinator Dr. Imran Baig Mirza, Assistant Professor, Dept. of BBA CA and Coordinator – B. Voc. SD delivered a warm welcome speech and provided an overview of the session's objectives.
Prof. Farooque Y. Shaikh, Nodal Officer in the
Department of B. Voc. SD, was honored to introduce our esteemed trainer: Mr.
Aniket Lavate, the Technical Head at Lavatech Technology Pune. The felicitation
ceremony was conducted by Dr. Imran Baig Mirza for Mr. Aniket Lavate, our
esteemed resource person, by presenting him with a bouquet and memento.
The entire 4-day training program was designed to teach the
significance of AWS Cloud Computing and meet industry demand for skilled
professionals. The training at BBA CA lab provided hands-on practice to
students on their systems. Day-wise topics are listed below.
DAY-01: INTRODUCTION TO CLOUD COMPUTING
During the training session, Mr. Aniket
Lavate provided an introduction to Cloud computing, explaining its purpose and
applications. He elaborated on various services like IAAS, PAAS, and SAAS that
form the foundation of the Cloud system. Our students had a hands-on experience
of these services on their systems, which were presented live during the
session
Mr. Lavate explained the importance of
understanding these services to use them effectively in different applications
and their role in the Cloud. He also discussed various Cloud service providers
available in the market, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Oracle, IBM, Adobe,
VMware, and SAP.
The first day of the training session concluded with an explanation of the different ways to avail of these services, the necessary skills required for their effective utilization, and their various applications.
DAY-02: INTRODUCTION TO AWS AND AWS INFRASTRUCTURE
On day two of the training, Mr. Aniket Lavate presented an introduction to
AWS. He
explained the fundamentals of the system,
including the procedure for opening an AWS account. Theoretical sessions were
conducted to cover various AWS services such as compute, storage, databases,
analytics, networking, mobile, developer tools, management tools, IoT,
Security, and enterprise applications. The students were then given hands-on
practice to use these services. To give the students a better understanding of
AWS, Mr. Lavate presented some recognized companies that use AWS services in
their systems, including Netflix, LinkedIn, Samsung, Vodafone, Siemens,
McDonald’s, and Walt Disney.
The first step to approach the services provided by AWS is
creating a server on the AWS
platform. Mr. Lavate practically explained how to create an AWS server and
demonstrated the live activity for these practices performed by the students on
their systems.
In addition, the infrastructure components in AWS, such as zone availability, region, edge locations, and regional edge caches, were covered in the theoretical session. Mr. Lavate explained these components and emphasized their importance in building an AWS system. The session was interactive and helped the students better understand the topic.
DAY-03: REMOTE ACCESS TO THE AWS SERVER
Accessing a server remotely is sometimes necessary, and when it comes to accessing an AWS server in remote mode, it's important to understand the various tools that can be used. An informative lecture was given by Mr. Aniket Lavate on the remote tools needed to securely operate our server remotely. During his presentation, he explained the use of tools such as SSH (Secure Socket Shell) and RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol), and later provided a live demonstration of their use.
SSH is a network protocol that allows users to access a server from an unsecured network in a secure way, while RDP is used to establish an encrypted connection between remote users and the AWS server without the need for a virtual private network. The lecture included both theoretical and practical sessions, with a summary of the tools followed by a live demonstration and hands-on practice for the students.
Mr. Aniket Lavate also explained the procedure for creating different operating systems on the AWS server, starting with the creation of a Windows server and later explaining the steps required to create a Linux server. The students were guided to perform these activities on their own systems to gain a hands-on experience.
DAY-04: FIREWALL SECURITY, WEBSITE HOSTING
AND LOAD BALANCER
On day four of our training, we learned about
the crucial and essential requirements necessary for securely running and
managing our server, even under difficult circumstances. Mr. Aniket Lavate led
the session and demonstrated step-by-step how to create, host, and balance a
website in the Cloud. Students watched as he created a website on the live
system and then generated a replica to manage the website if the server went
down for any reason. Students were able to follow along and gain hands-on experience.
The importance of firewall security was also emphasized as a way to protect our server from unauthorized access, unsecured networks, and hacking attempts. Students learned about monitoring network traffic and preventing security breaches. The entire session was practical and informative, providing a strong foundation for our career paths.
During the session on "AWS Training Program," students were provided with a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic and promising field of Cloud Computing. Towards the end of the day, Principal Professor Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh, Mr. Aniket Lavate, and Dr. Imran Baig Mirza shared insights on various career paths, skills required to excel in the industry, and the potential for growth and innovation.
The Department of B. Voc. Software Development is dedicated to providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in today's technology-driven world. As part of this commitment, our Principal, Professor Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh, has announced a 30-hour advanced course on AWS. This program is designed to assist students who struggle with programming and will help them advance their careers, guiding them towards their True North.
Dr. Imran Baig Mirza concluded the program by thanking Mr. Aniket Lavate for sharing his valuable knowledge with the students and helping them shape their careers in the growing industry. The management was also acknowledged for providing this golden opportunity to guide the students.
