workshop on Data Science

 

The Department of B.Voc in Software Development at AKI's Poona College successfully organized workshop titled "Data Science” for First Year (FY), Second Year (SY), and Third Year (TY) students of B.Voc Software Development. The event, held on 28th September 2024 was led by Ms. Nikhat Hurzuk, Assistant Professor in the department, who welcomed all participants on behalf of AKI’s Poona College, recognizing the support of key faculty members, including Dr. Iqbal N. Shaikh, In-Charge Principal (in absentia), Dr. Amjad Shaikh, Vice Principal, Dr. Imran Baig Mirza, Coordinator of B.Voc Software Development, Mr. Faooque Shaikh, Nodal Officer of B.Voc, (in absentia)and Mr. Shakeel Shaikh, Assistant Professor of B.Voc BFSI.

 


The workshop commenced with a recitation of the Holy Quran by Mr. Shakeel Shaikh, setting a respectful tone for the day. Following this, Ms. Mehwish Khan, a student of B.Voc Software Development, introduced the esteemed guest speakers, Mr. Om Prakash Yadav.

 Dr. Amjad Shaikh addressed the students, emphasizing the critical role of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence in contemporary industries. He underscored how proficiency in programming languages like Python is essential for careers in this field and highlighted the growing demand for professionals skilled in data analytics and machine learning.

Dr. Amjad Shaikh facilitated the felicitation of the guest speaker, Mr. Om Prakash Yadav, acknowledging his expertise and contributions to the field. Similarly, Dr. Imran Baig Mirza honored Mr. Mohan Dhanve for his valuable insights and engagement with the students.



 

Mr. Mohan Dhanve then took the stage to deliver the main session, sharing insights into the world of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. His presentation encompassed various facets of data processing, including data collection, cleaning, and transformation, which are vital for preparing datasets for analysis.



He explained machine learning algorithms and their applications, illustrating how businesses leverage data to make informed decisions. Mr. Dhanve also discussed advanced topics such as neural networks and deep learning, explaining their significance in the development of AI technologies. He highlighted real-world applications, such as natural language processing in chatbots and computer vision in image recognition systems, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the field.

 

The interactive Q&A session allowed students to engage directly with the speakers, posing questions about career pathways, the skills needed to succeed in Data Science, and the ethical considerations of AI development. This exchange not only clarified students' queries but also inspired them to consider how they might contribute to this rapidly evolving field.

 


The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks from Ms. Nikhat Hurzuk, who expressed gratitude to the resource persons, Mr. Om Prakash Yadav and Mr. Mohan Dhanve, for their invaluable insights. She thanked Dr. Iqbal N. Shaikh, Dr. Amjad Shaikh, and Dr. Imran Baig Mirza for their unwavering support and acknowledged the management of AKI’s Poona College for facilitating the event. Ms. Hurzuk also recognized Mr. Shakeel Shaikh for his organizational efforts, Mr. Mudassar Shaikh for his technical support, and the lab staff for their contributions. Finally, she thanked the students for their enthusiastic participation, making the workshop a meaningful and enlightening experience for all involved.

 


Overall, the workshop provided students with critical knowledge and skills related to Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, preparing them for future academic and professional endeavors in this dynamic domain.
