Workshop on Cyber Security

 


 

On 5th October 2024, the Department of B.Voc Software Development and BBA (Computer Application) organized a workshop on Cyber Security under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Iqbal Shaikh and Vice Principal Dr. Amjad Shaikh. The event was led by Ms. Nikhat Hurzuk, Assistant Professor in the B.Voc department, and coordinated by Dr. Imran Baig Mirza, Program Coordinator of B.Voc Software Development. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about cyber security threats and solutions. Ms. Hurzuk welcomed all participants on behalf of AKI’s Poona College of Arts, Science, and Commerce, acknowledging the crucial support provided by the institution's management team.

The session opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Mr. Zayan Shaikh, a B.Voc Software Development student, followed by a welcome address from Dr. Shabana Mulla, Head of the Department of BBA (CA), who emphasized the significance of cyber security in the rapidly evolving digital world.

 

The guest speaker, Mr. Kamble, a renowned expert in cyber security, was introduced by TY B.Voc Software Development student Ms. Mehwish Khan, who highlighted his vast experience in the field. During his workshop, Mr. Kamble introduced the audience to various types of cyber attacks, such as phishing, ransomware, and DDoS attacks. His presentation was further enhanced by live hacking demonstrations, which showcased how hackers exploit system vulnerabilities. One of the most captivating moments was when Mr. Kamble walked the audience through a real-life hacking incident, showing how an attacker bypassed security measures. This hands-on demonstration left a strong impression on the participants, underscoring the risks involved and the need for robust defenses. Mr. Kamble also discussed the significance of ethical hacking, highlighting career opportunities in the field and encouraging students to consider certifications like CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker).

 

 

Following the informative session by Mr. Kamble, Vice Principal Dr. Amjad Shaikh addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of staying vigilant in the digital age and the role students can play in enhancing cyber safety. After his address, Dr. Amjad Shaikh felicitated the guest speaker, Mr. Kamble, for his insightful presentation.

 

In turn, Dr. Amjad Shaikh was felicitated by Dr. Shabana Mulla, Head of the Department of BBA (CA), for his continuous guidance and support in organizing such impactful events.

 

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. Farooque Shaikh, Nodal Officer of B.Voc, who expressed gratitude to the guest speaker, AKI’s management, Principal Dr. Iqbal Shaikh, and Vice Principal Dr. Amjad Shaikh for their continuous support. Special thanks were extended to the staff members of B.Voc Software Development and BBA (CA), with a particular mention of Mr. Mudassar, Admin of B.Voc, for his assistance in ensuring the smooth execution of the event. Mrs. Shabeena Khan was praised for her effective coordination, and Mr. Shaikh commended the students for their active participation. The workshop successfully raised awareness about cyber security and equipped students with valuable knowledge to protect themselves against cyber threats, preparing them for future challenges in the digital domain.
